For those who struggle with traditional, land-based physical therapy, aquatic therapy can be an excellent treatment option. Aquatic therapy helps those who may not be able to put as much pressure on certain joints or areas but still strive to maintain or regain mobility from an injury. By being immersed in the water, the impact on joints or other areas decreases significantly due to the patient’s buoyancy, allowing for greater mobility with less physical stress. Our therapy sessions are performed in a shallow, warm-water pool, which allows the patient to sit or stand comfortably. Patients are not required to swim or know how to do so.

Aquatic therapy takes advantage of the benefits of water to allow for a more comfortable therapy session. The warm temperature of the water soothes and relaxes your body while the viscosity of the water provides a gentle resistance. The hydrostatic pressure can also provide natural relief from joint swelling. For those patients who are less mobile, a chair lift is available to assist the patient in and out of the water.
